Suggesting

With ¿Quieres ...? you invite someone: ¿Quieres ir al cine? ¿Quieres tomar un café? With ¿Quedamos ...? you suggest meeting up directly: ¿Quedamos el sábado? And ¿Vamos ...? (shall we go?) works too: ¿Vamos a la playa?

When and where?

The day goes with el: el sábado, el domingo – not with "en". The time with a las, the place with en or a location phrase: Quedamos el viernes a las ocho en la plaza. Quedamos delante del cine. You can ask back with ¿Qué día?, ¿A qué hora? and ¿Dónde quedamos?

Saying yes, saying no, suggesting something else

Yes: ¡Vale! ¡Sí, claro! No: Lo siento, no puedo. With a reason: El sábado no puedo. Trabajo. And straight away suggest another day: ¿Y el domingo?

A whole conversation

This is what making plans looks like as a whole: suggestion – no, with a new day – yes – time and place – goodbye.

— ¿Quieres ir al cine el sábado? — El sábado no puedo. ¿Y el domingo? — ¡Vale! ¿A qué hora? — A las seis, delante del cine. — Muy bien. ¡Nos vemos!
