International words

When reading, you recognise many Spanish words straight away: [[el hotel]], [[la música]], [[el teléfono]]. When listening it is harder, because the same words often sound different in Spanish. Here you learn to recognise international words when you hear them too – and with a few rules even to work out new words.

Listening for key words

In everyday life you usually want to know just one thing when you listen: When is the meeting? Where is the pharmacy? How much is it? You don't need to understand every word for that. You only need to know what you are listening for – and then listen specifically for that one key word.

Slow standard Spanish

In the last topic you listened only for single key words. Here it is the opposite: you hear short texts spoken slowly and clearly – and try to understand them completely, sentence by sentence. Every word counts, even the small ones.
