Origin and nationality
Your nationality is la nacionalidad. You ask about origin with ¿De dónde eres? (Where are you from?); you answer with soy de + country (I am from): Soy de España.
Nationalities like español (Spanish), alemán (German) or mexicano (Mexican) say which el país (country) you come from.
Where you live
With the verb vivir (to live) you say which la ciudad (city) or el pueblo (village) you live in: Vivo en Madrid. (I live in Madrid.)
