Holidays

To the sea or to the mountains? You already know las vacaciones, la playa, viajar, el hotel and el camping. Now come the places where people spend their holidays, and a few things they do there.

By the water

el mar is the sea, el río the river. At the beach, la playa, you can tomar el sol – sunbathe: En la playa tomo el sol. Nadamos en el río.

In nature

la montaña is the mountain (in the also "the mountains" as an area: las montañas), el bosque the forest. el campo is the countryside as opposed to the city – with fields and villages: Mis abuelos viven en el campo.

And everything you see together is el paisaje, the landscape: El paisaje es muy bonito.

Planning the trip

Before you go, you often have to reservar something – book a hotel room or a table: Primero reservo el hotel y después viajo. And when lots of people travel to a place, we talk about el turismo, tourism: En verano hay mucho turismo.
