Accommodation

Where do you stay when you travel? Here you learn the most important words for accommodation: hotel or campsite, single or double room, the reception and checking in and out. You already know el hotel from "Places in town" and la habitación from "Housing".

Hotel or campsite

The two types of accommodation in this topic: el hotel (the hotel) and el camping (the campsite). Dormimos en un hotel. Me gusta dormir en el camping.

The rooms

la habitación is the room. In a hotel you distinguish between la habitación individual (the single room, for one person) and la habitación doble (the double room, for two people). Quiero una habitación doble, por favor.

individual and doble come after the and add -es or -s in the : las habitaciones individuales, las habitaciones dobles.

At the reception

la recepción is the reception. When you arrive, you check in there: registrarse. The verb is reflexive, like levantarse: me registro, te registras, nos registramos. Me registro en la recepción.

When you leave, you check out: dejar la habitación – literally "leave the room". dejar is a regular -ar verb: El domingo dejo la habitación.
