Words you already know

Just read: el hotel, el taxi, la radio, la música, la familia, el teléfono, el museo, la universidad. Often only the ending or the spelling is a little different – you can guess the meaning straight away.

So when you read, look out for words like these first. They quickly show you what a text is about.

A small warning

Not every similar word means exactly the same: la carta, for example, is not a card but a letter or the menu. If in doubt, the context helps.

Examples

  • el hotel
  • el taxi
  • la música
  • la familia
