Messages and chats

A short message from a friend: when shall we meet, where, and can you bring something? Messages like these are short and casual – and with your A1 vocabulary you can already understand them well.

Arranging to meet

A message is el mensaje. To arrange a meeting you mainly need quedar (to meet up): ¿Quedamos mañana? quedar has several meanings, for example also "to stay". Here it means "to arrange to meet" or "to meet up". The answer is often very short: Vale. Claro. – or Lo siento, no puedo.

When and where?

The time comes with a las, the place with en: Quedamos a las siete en la plaza. If someone is going to be late, they write: Llego tarde.

Small requests

With ¿Puedes …? you ask for something: ¿Puedes traer pan? ¿Puedes llamar a Ana? And of course people say thank you at the end: ¡Gracias!
